TYPES OF GRP PIPE JOINTS
“Azkompozit” GRP pipes are connected to each other using various jointing systems with or without use of EPDM O-rings.
The pipe joints meet the stringent requirements of ASTM D 4161.
The main type of pipe jointing is bell and spigot, in addition, a number of jointing types can be used as follows:
1. Bell and spigot joint with single O-ring sealing, for pipe connections with a nominal pressure up to 6 bar.
2. Bell and spigot joint with double O-ring sealing, for pipe connections with a nominal pressure greater than 6 atm.
3. In special cases (at the joints of pipelines, when passing pipes through sleeves at intersections with highways, in closed circulation systems) a rigid connection (lamination) is also used.
4. Flanged joints are mainly used for connection of fiberglass pipes with the pipes made of other materials as well as equipment.
